The list consists of topics that clearly show Filipino netizens' passion for games, sports, lottery, beauty pageants, celebrities movies and TV shows from China, Korea and Thailand.
The list of Overall Trending Searches which is the overall top trending searches for 2018 in the Philippines was topped by MemoryHackers, a popular cheat tool for Rules of Survival (ROS) in which players can do aimbot (auto-aim) and wallhack. Next was Hot Shot Gamers, which is another ROS cheat program. Though these searches are not good results because cheat tools or hack programs are known for destroying a game and its community, there are still topics that deserves to be in the Year in Search 2018 list.

1. Stan Lee - was an American comic book writer, editor, and publisher, responsible for such iconic characters as Spider-Man, the X-Men, Thor, Iron Man, Black Panther and the Fantastic Four. Lee died at the age of 95 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, on November 12, 2018, due to Aspiration pneumonia.
2. Anthony Bourdain - was an American celebrity chef, author, travel documentarian, and television personality who starred in programs focusing on the exploration of international culture, cuisine, and the human condition. On June 8, he was found dead of an apparent suicide by hanging in his room at Le Chambard hotel in Kaysersberg, France, near Strasbourg, he was 61 years old.
3. Kate Spade - was an American fashion designer and businesswoman. She was the founder and former co-owner of the designer brand Kate Spade New York. A housekeeper found Spade dead in her Manhattan apartment on June 5, 2018. Her death was ruled a suicide by hanging. She died at the age of 55.
4. Stephen Hawking - was an English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author, who was director of research at the Centre for Theoretical Cosmology at the University of Cambridge at the time of his death. Hawking was diagnosed with an early-onset slow-progressing form of motor neurone disease (also known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis "ALS" or Lou Gehrig's disease) that gradually paralysed him over the decades. Even after the loss of his speech, he was still able to communicate through a speech-generating device, initially through use of a hand-held switch, and eventually by using a single cheek muscle. He died on 14 March 2018 at the age of 76, after more than 50 years battling the disease.
5. Avicii - Tim Bergling a.k.a Avicii was a Swedish musician, DJ, remixer and record producer. Bergling retired from touring in 2016 due to health problems, having suffered stress and poor mental health for several years. On 20 April 2018, Avicii was found dead in Muscat, Oman. He was buried on 8 June in Stockholm, Sweden. He died at the age of 28.
6. Rico J Puno - was a Filipino singer, composer, comedian, actor and television host who was credited as a pioneer-promoter of original Filipino music. Puno died of heart failure on October 30, 2018, in St. Luke's Medical Center – Global City. He was 65.
7. Xxxtentacion - Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy a.k.a XXXTentacion, was an American rapper, singer and songwriter. A controversial figure within the hip-hop industry, Onfroy has been regarded to have left behind "a huge musical footprint" due to his impact on his young fanbase and his popularity during his short career. On June 18, 2018, Onfroy was fatally shot at the age of 20, in a robbery at a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida.
8. Mac Miller - Malcolm James McCormick a.k.a Mac Miller, was an American rapper, singer, and record producer. Miller died of a drug overdose in his Studio City home on September 7, 2018. He was 26 years old.
9. Arnold Corpuz - who plays extra roles in ABS-CBN teleseryes especially on "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano", was found dead in his home in Cavite Wednesday, August 29, 2018. Arnold Corpuz, aged 38, was found with several stab wounds.
10. Aretha Franklin - Aretha Louise Franklin was an American singer, songwriter, civil rights activist, actress, and pianist. Franklin began her career as a child singing gospel at New Bethel Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan. Aretha Franklin had come to be known as "The Queen of Soul". Franklin died at her home on August 16, 2018, aged 76, without a will. The cause of death was pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor (pNET).
According to Google Trends, the lists were based terms with most number of searches in 2018 compare to 2017 (Top Searches in Philippines According to Google Trends Year in Search 2017).
