What is dual ring and its working and its purpose in ring topology

It is one of the disadvantages of Ring Topology that a break in the ring can stop the whole communication process. So, to prevent from this situation Dual Ring Topology is used in which two rings connect each node on a network. One is used as a primary ring and other as a backup in case of failure of primary ring.
