Chicago Tribune and Star Tribune write about new plans for more aggressive crusades against the climate change in general and climate skeptics in particular than anything we have seen ever before:
Climate scientists plan campaign against global warming skeptics (Chicago Tribune)Being threatened that the inflow of the easy stolen taxpayer money may decelerate, a group of hardcore AGW crusaders has decided to switch into the ballistic mode.
Climate scientists prepare to take the fight to skeptical politicians (Star Tribune)
Scientists join forces in a hostile climate (Andrew Revkin)
John Abraham panics... (Anthony Watts)
A key person in the plan is Mr Abraham (whom I have never heard of but who is claimed to have starred in a well-known attack against Lord Monckton) from a former Minnesotan Catholic seminary of St Thomas in St Paul that also became an archdiocesan university later.
He established the so-called "climate rapid response team". About seven hundred similar AGW crusaders agreed to directly face skeptical audiences. How much is seven hundred? The article indicates that the term "seven hundred" has been redefined to mean approximately 39 (inform the Oxford Dictionary of English about the change), namely John Abraham from the Catholic seminary himself and Scott Mandia from Suffolk County Community College in New York. :-)
This is what I call a powerful group of intellectual giants. ;-) But don't forget Penny's implicit finding that community college graduates can be the opposite of complete losers (although Sheldon remained a bit skeptical)!
The latter Gentleman complained:
"We are taking the fight to them because we are … tired of taking the hits. The notion that truth will prevail is not working. The truth has been out there for the past two decades, and nothing has changed."Well, the idea that truth doesn't prevail is indeed a cornerstone of their thinking. That's why they've been spreading lies instead of the truth for 2 decades, as he correctly observes. I also hope that after these 2 decades, something may start to change in the wake of the latest U.S. elections and those dishonest folks may finally be dealt with more efficiently.
Note that Mandia is "taking the fight" because he is "tired of taking the hits". Here you can also see the utter inability of those people to think rationally. I assure him that if he will openly "take the fight", he will have to take many more hits than he has ever had. Every Islamic colleague of him already knows.
James Taylor of the Heartland Institute - who is also somewhat inaccurately described as a global warming expert - is mentioning that the government, already drowning in a massive debt, is wasting huge amounts of money for self-described scientists many of whom are unabashed activists. I guess that Abraham, Mandia et al. have decided to show that they are no activists: they are Mujahideens: because of his Catholic affiliation, Mr Abraham is probably the only one who is a true crusader. ;-)
Four more people decided to show - in this unusual way - that the AGW fearmongers are more than just fanatical left-wing activists and there is still an overwhelming consensus: Richard Feely, Kevin Trenberth, Michael Oppenheimer, and Jeffrey Taylor who is the group's "manager".
Do they actually want to show that their activism is not all about politics? This question is clearly answered by Mandia's sentence that attracted the attention of Hank Campbell, too:
This group feels strongly that science and politics can't be divorced and that we need to take bold measures to not only communicate science but also to aggressively engage the denialists and politicians who attack climate science and its scientists. Not only he fails to understand that science and politics shouldn't mix: he believes that "they can't be divorced"! ;-) Wow.
At the end of the article in Chicago Tribune, Mandia says that their group will not focus on people who already know something about the climate because there's no chance for the jihad group to make them ignorant again: the new group of crooks will exclusively try to brainwash those who know absolutely nothing, Mandia of the community college explains. The assumption is that if no one has cared to learn anything about the climate for 20 years when this topic was everywhere, he or she will suddenly be thrilled to listen to six obnoxious men.
Well, good luck, loons. Let me admit that I like the idea that the fight against climate change will start to be associated with third-class community colleges and religious seminaries again. It used to belong to the fringe and it should return where it still belongs.
AGW jihad collects 700 or 39 or 6 crusaders for tough fights
