Remarketing

Are you familiar with remarketing?

A remarketing ad is one that follows you around the Internet. Here is an example. I recently read an article about a company called FAB that sells products they design directly to consumers. They have gotten some large venture capital funding and design was at the front and center of their business. I was curious.

After leaving the website, I went to read The New York Times online and there was an ad for Fab. I didn’t think anything of it at first but thought it was odd that it should appear near where I was visiting. Then, an hour later I went to read a blog post on marketing and noticed in the side bar another ad for Fab. Fab was following me.

Is this creepy or clever?

Remarketing tags can work in conjunction with AdWords to show relevant messages within the Google Display Network.

Here is what Google says about this product:

Why You'd Use It
Remarketing is a powerful way to stay engaged with your target audience. Presenting them with highly relevant ads and offers across the Web -- and making sure your brand is top of mind when they’re ready to buy –- can radically improve ROI. Achieve even higher conversions by combining other targeting methods, such as interest categories, demographics, or keyword campaigns. For example, if you wanted to expand the reach of your fashion brand, you could target only women between the ages of 18-24 who have not yet visited your site, and present them with an offer that is tailored to them.
