Yes, global warming propaganda penetrating into APS is the reason
Ivar Giaever, the Norwegian American 1973 physics Nobel prize winner for superconductivity and a 2008 Obama supporter, silently and modestly avoided the renewal of his membership in the American Physical Society.
Some APS officials investigated what was going on and he replied by this e-mail that was sent yesterday:

Dear Ms. Kirby
Thank you for your letter inquiring about my membership. I did not renew it because I can not live with the statement below:
Best regards,
Ivar Giaever
Nobel Laureate 1973
PS. I included a copy to a few people in case they feel like using the information.

Meanwhile, Al Gore's Climate Parody Day has begun. It is a complete failure reaching fewer people than this blog so you probably haven't heard about it yet. But the 24 hours of Manbearpig are already underway.
If you click at the link above, you will see something like a press conference of a random Malaysian provincial politician (it's actually not even a politician: it's one of the 3,000 random individiduals who have been personally trained in the camps of al-Gore) who analyzes whether there has been a record high temperature in Malaysia and is being awkwardly translated to English in real time.
It's a complete bummer and I challenge you to listen to this stuff for more than 5 minutes. I couldn't do it for more than 1 minute – and the reasons are even independent of the climate. I just hate unedited superboring press conferences by unimportant people translated in an unplanned, constantly interrupted way by a stuttering translator, with unimportant and often untrue slides (which you have been forced to see 50 times previously anyway) used as the "video".
Press the triangle to play 24 hours of climate parodies. The first TRF reader who manages to watch this whole program will win $50.
Let's hope that this utter failure will be the end of Al Gore as we knew it.

Dear Ms. Kirby
Thank you for your letter inquiring about my membership. I did not renew it because I can not live with the statement below:
Emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities are changing the atmosphere in ways that affect the Earth's climate. Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide as well as methane, nitrous oxide and other gases. They are emitted from fossil fuel combustion and a range of industrial and agricultural processes. In the APS it is ok to discuss whether the mass of the proton changes over time and how a multi-universe behaves, but the evidence of global warming is incontrovertible? The claim (how can you measure the average temperature of the whole earth for a whole year?) is that the temperature has changed from ~288.0 to ~288.8 degree Kelvin in about 150 years, which (if true) means to me is that the temperature has been amazingly stable, and both human health and happiness have definitely improved in this 'warming' period.
The evidence is incontrovertible: Global warming is occurring.
If no mitigating actions are taken, significant disruptions in the Earth's physical and ecological systems, social systems, security and human health are likely to occur. We must reduce emissions of greenhouse gases beginning now.
Best regards,
Ivar Giaever
